Overcoming Burnout
Let's face it, we're all feeling it...Covid Overload. Over the past 2 years this virus has affected each of us either directly or indirectly and needless to say, we are all trying our best to deal with the "new normal". If you're anything like me, navigating this environment of teleworking, hybrid working and video conferencing can be a bit mind numbing at times and it can become easy to get distracted by life.

During this interactive session I will be sharing some tools that i've picked up along the way that will help you regain your focus and hopefully add some value to your work/life balance. We will discuss everything from reshaping habits & wasted energy, to getting over your "it" and many other topics in between. One of my favorite authors, Jim Rhon, once said "Don't wish it were easier, wish you were better". Join me as we become better so that navigating this new normal becomes easier.

Cisco - Gold Sponsor - Navigating Risk AND Compliance with the Board

It's often that customers feel that risk conversations are at odds with compliance conversations. That doesn't have to be the case! If you take a Standards Based approach to solving for compliance needs (PII, CMMC, NIST, Trusted Access), you can also have tremendous impact on mitigating risk as well.

This discussion will outline both areas, and how to approach them in a way that engages a Board of Directors in the overall success of the University. We'll focus on how to prioritize spending opportunities (HEER, IIJA, ARPA) so that they can have the most positive impact possible for every institution. Finally, we'll look at how a platform approach might simplify both compliance and risk for your organization.

The digital transformation in education continues to expose technical and procedural challenge to ensure consistent security through the transition to cloud technologies and services. Organizations seeking to adopt multi-cloud strategies, gain economic and operational advantages, and support teaching and research are becoming more dependent on cloud applications and environments. Security architectures are not keeping pace with cloud-based networking innovations and continuation of remote work only increases the attack surface.  This presentation will show pathways to engage security at the service edge, allowing organizations to shift away from purchasing numerous point-products to secure different parts of their networks and adopt a more cost effective operational service model.

BlueAlly - Silver Sponsor - Zero Trust Architecture
Zero trust (ZT) is the term for an evolving set of cybersecurity paradigms that move defenses from static, network-based perimeters to focus on users, assets, and resources. A zero-trust architecture (ZTA) uses zero trust principles to plan industrial and enterprise infrastructure and workflows. Zero trust assumes there is no implicit trust granted to assets or user accounts based solely on their physical or network location or based on asset ownership (enterprise or personally owned). Authentication and authorization (subject and device) are discrete functions performed before a session to an enterprise resource is established. Zero trust is a response to enterprise network trends that include remote users, bring your own device (BYOD), and cloud-based assets that are not located within an enterprise-owned network boundary. Zero trust focuses on protecting resources, not network segments, as the network location is no longer seen as the prime component to the security posture of the resource. -NIST 800-207
